The January transfer market is typically a period of significant speculation and possible big-money transfers. Several prominent footballers find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine some of the major figures who could be changing clubs in January.

Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other options, leaving teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late bid.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has impress for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his contract due to expire in the close season, January is the club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. However, a January departure remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found starting minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced Germany shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona following new coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone surgery, a January departure seems highly likely. Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The prolific English striker has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could boost his dwindling chances of being in the England World Cup. However, securing a transfer poses major hurdles. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his reported enormous salary render any agreement complicated. This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle United reportedly are leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately £22 million.
